What Is Going On With Me?!?

I have been wanting to write this post for so long, I just didn’t think the time was right, or I couldn’t find the right words. I think I am finally ready to let everyone know what is going on with me this Summer and why I haven’t been posting very often. I am in the process of getting divorced. Carl and I were together for 20 years and our parting was absolutely as amicable as these things can be. I wish nothing but happiness and peace in his future. He has had as much stress this Summer as one person could possibly handle and I hate it that I was a part of that, but sometimes in life we don’t get to choose the timing of these type of things. I am in a new relationship with the most wonderful man. His name is Mike and we are in the process of building our new life together. I am so very happy and many of my health issues have resolved themselves (I am sleeping now!!!). We are in the process of remodeling our new condo and that takes up much of my free time. But I have been able to squeeze in some knitting and I actually have photos to share with you.

Here is the first finished Hemp Lace sock.

Their mates have all been started, but not really enough progress to show you on those. As I said in my last post, I have a horrible case of startitis. My Four Seasons Afghan is underway.

I also purchased the rest of the yarn for the other squares. You may notice there is one bright red square, I’m not too sure about it. I may have to do something else.

What I have been working on the most lately is the new Argosy Baby Blanket for my friend’s Jason and Beth. I am using the Blue Sky Organic Cotton yarn. Cotton is sprayed heavily with pesticides during the growing process, so I like that this yarn is organic since is going to be wrapping up such a precious package. I have been knitting on it almost exclusively. I am almost halfway done.

Seriously, Where Does The Time Go?

Life is really busy lately. My days seem full from beginning to end. I’m not really complaining, I just don’t understand how the days go by so quickly. I was able to finish the Father’s Day sock before leaving to see my Dad. Here are the completed pair and I didn’t even have to Kitchner stitch the toe together in the car.
<a href=”http://Finished Father's Day Socks“>
I worked on the second Tempted Paris sock on the drive over and back instead. Here is sock #2. Not my best photo, but I am done with the heel, and am working on the leg.
<a href=”http://Tempted Paris Sock #2“>
So to celebrate my productiveness (is that even a word?), I’ve been on a little yarn buying binge lately. One of the LYS was having a summer sale, so I picked up a few things.

<a href=”http://Tofusties“>
Sorry about the bright orange backdrop, I’ll try to get something a little more neutral next time. I also ordered some Numma Numma and some sock blockers from The Loopy Ewe.
I’m going to take a small break from the SoS to make the boys some catnip mice, their 3rd Adoption day birthday is next Monday. Happy Adoption Day Simon and Oscar!!!

Yarn Pron and Some FO’s

Sorry for the lame title post. I just can’t really come up with anything any better. I got my Noro Sock Yarn from The Loopy Ewe. I love the color and will be interested in seeing how it knits up. The color that I got is S102. Here is a photo.
<a href=”http://Noro Sock Yarn“>
I also have recently purchased Debbie Bliss Rialto Aran. I bought this to make my Fetching Mitts. I have one done and the other one is in progress. Here are photos of the completed one and a close up of the cuff pattern. It’s a little hard to see because of them being black.
<a href=”http://Fetching Mitt #1“>
<a href=”http://Cable Pattern Close Up“>
I’m hoping to have the second mitt done today so I can wear them tomorrow when I work. The first one basically got done in one evening, so I shouldn’t have a problem.

I completed the flame socks. Here is a photo of them. You might notice how much better this photo is than my usual. That is because it was taken by Mike B. Superphotographer.
<a href=”http://flameSocks.jpg“>
He says the socks are “Wicked Cool” and if it wasn’t only 5 above he would be wearing sandals so everyone could see them.
Now onto some random musings. I have a fantastic new winter coat that Darling Husband Carl got me for my birthday. It is a full length down coat from llbean with a giant furry hood. I am seriously not cold when I’m wearing it, and I think I may be in love with it. Really, I am in love with it!
I am searching for poncho patterns. My buddy Cara wants me to knit her a poncho and I’m looking for a good pattern. Any suggestions anyone?
I’m trying to decide what my next pair of socks are going to be. I need to cast on for the second of the Rappongi healthy spine socks. Remember I abandoned them to work on Holiday knitting. The lone completed sock is just lying over there, ends not even sewn in.
I don’t have any new music to listen to and I’m really bummed out about that. Does any one have new music they are crazy about? I’m just really bored with everything I’ve been listening to lately.
I have to work the next 6 days in a row, but I get next weekend off.

Good News, Bad News, and some Actual Knitting

Bad News:  First measurable snow of the year came last night. Good News:  I wasn’t scheduled to work today so I get to stay inside with Simon and Oscar and look at the pretty.  Here are some pictures out the back door for you. <a href=”http://Snow Picture #3“><a href=”http://Snow Picture #1“><a href=”http://Snow Picture #2“>Bad News: The Red Jeep is still out of commission from being stolen. Actually it works just fine except the windshield wipers won’t work. On a snowy day, you pretty much need windshield wipers.Good News: Being stranded at home gives me lots and lots of knitting/blogging time.Here is a photo of how far I am on my Dad’s first sock.<a href=”http://Dad's Christmas Socks“>I also have some yarn pron for you. I have true to my word not bought any yarn lately. But I recently received some sock club yarns. They are exceptionally beautiful.<a href=”http://Zen String Serendipity Morroco“>This is my Zen String from October. The colorway is Morocco.<a href=”http://Zen String Serendipity Poseidon“>This is my Zen String for November. The colorway is Poseidon. I’m not getting a great color from my camera on this one. It is a really lovely blueish color, with almost some grey in it. Next up is my Booty Club yarn for November, the colorway is Solstice.<a href=”http://Yarn Pirate BFL Solstice“>Now that I look at it that photo’s not very good either. Beautiful purples and blues. Oscar wanted a sniff.<a href=”http://Oscar Sniffing the Booty“>”>Be super careful in the snow everyone!!

My new booty club yarn actually came last week amid all of my drama. So I’m just now getting around to showing it to you. Georgia included two sets of new Yarn Pirate circular needles, and they’re pink! Love it! Here are some photos. New yarn inspector Simon had to get involved and give the yarn his sniff of approval.

As I said yesterday, it is super bright! I see it more as a scarf or mittens. Anyone have any other suggestions? I am working on the leg of the first Rappongi sock, here is a photo update.
I am super happy with how this sock is turning out. The pattern is fun and interesting, the heel turned perfectly, it fits like a dream, so far, so good. As DHC said to me last night “You are really starting to get the hang of this sock knitting thing”. I guess maybe I am. I am going to spend my weekend working on Argosy, maybe spinning a little and starting to make preparations for Darling Husband Carl’s upcoming birthday next week. Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

I was true to my word. I did knit a lot this past weekend. I almost got Darling Husband Carl’s second Bamboo Banga sock completed. And I actually have a photo to share with you.
Trust me that there isn’t much yarn left there. Maybe I will finish while watching “Dancing with the Semi-Famous” tonight. I’m very excited to be finished with these socks. They just have not thrilled me. I’m debating what I should do next. I have a couple of patterns in mind, or I might just pick one of my goregous skeins out of my stash and just make a plain sock to highlight the colors. I also worked a little on the Argosy blanket. I think that I’m going to start working on it when I am home. It is getting big, much to big to lug around with me. But it goes really fast and it doesn’t take too much concentration now that I understand the pattern.
I’ve been slowly entering my stash into Ravelry. I took a bunch of photos of my yarn this morning.  Doing this has made me realize I do have a lot of yarn.  But I love it all.  It has also made me realize that I’m a pretty bad photographer.  Here is a photo I took this morning of some Claudia’s Handpainted.  I didn’t even notice Simon’s big ol’ back paw in the photo.  That’s what happens when you are taking pictures at 6:15 a.m.

So late last week I posted about how I was going to stop buying yarn.  Here I am posting about new yarn.  Huh?  Well, it is my Zen String sock club yarn for September.  I had already enrolled in Zen String and Yarn Pirate sock yarn clubs for the next few months. The color is called Reflection and it is really beautiful.  It is Serendipity fingering weight.
Zen String Reflections“>
Not exactly the first thing that I think of when I think of September, but I really like it all the same.
I finally got my invite to join Ravelry this past weekend, I’m sacamax if anyone cares. Best that I can figure out, Ravelry is like MySpace for Knitters and Crafters. I haven’t done anything with it yet, because I can’t figure out how to get my photos from Flickr into Ravelry. Any tips would be appreciated. I also had a little MacBook issue when I tried to upload the yarn photo to Flickr. I will have to investigate that a little further, I could even do that with my old squaky laptop.
I’ve decided that I do really like “The Reminder” by Feist. It is one of those things you need to listen to a few times and then it grows on you.
So I told everyone to watch Dancing with the Semi-Famous, and Helio didn’t even dance last night. He will be dancing tonight tho. Out of last night’s ladies, I liked Mel B. aka Scary Spice, something about her, she’s sassy. D liked Jane Seymour, he thought she was classy. Tonight the guys dance, poor Cheryl Burke, she’s paired with Wayne Newton.
If my posts have been really blah lately, I apologize. Normally I don’t talk at all about my work, it’s just not that interesting. But the past week has been extremely stressful and I’m afraid it’s taking it’s toll on my inspiration. Rest assured, I’m trying hard to find my happy place and soon my blogs will be filled with silliness and mirth once again. I keep thinking about the words of the great Bob Marley “Don’t worry about a thing, cause every little thing’s gonna be alright”.
