I got some new yarn in the mail yesterday. The name of the company is Zen String. Perfect fit for a yoga teacher. The yarn is Harmony which is a Merino/Tencel Blend and the colorway is called Dawn. I have to tell you, when I saw this yarn in person, it exceeded my expectations. It is so shiny and beautiful. I can’t wait to see how it knits up.

Yesterday was another high hit day at BigSkyMind. Big thank you to all my loyal readers. One blog lesson I learned yesterday, if you have important news, call first, blog later. When I got home last night, my mother Carolyn was on the phone with my husband, talking to him about his new car she saw on my blog. Ooops! Sorry Mom!
As I predicted yesterday, Jordin is the new American Idol. The highlights of the finale show, (which I had no intention of watching, yet I sat though the entire thing) were the African Children’s Choir, Green Day (?), and the finalist duets, especially Melinda, she made me want to go to church and say hallelujah. Evidently, the American Idol hair department only can do one style as Kelly, Carrie, and Jordin all had the parted down the middle, big curl look. Is that the offical hairstyle of American Idol winners? Is that why Fantasia wasn’t there? Parts of it were fairly unbearable, but overall it was more entertaining than I anticipated.

The Almost Friday

Have you noticed a lack of knitting content on my blog this week?  It is because while I have been knitting on Icarus every night, it looks like a big rusty blob and I seriously doubt that you would be able to tell that it’s any bigger than the last photo I showed you.  So it’s Thursday or The Almost Friday.  I like Thursday, not as much as Friday, but it’s got a lot of things going for it.  Earl and The Office are on, my two favorite tv shows.  I think that tonight are the season finales for both shows, but they are so funny that even watching re-runs makes me laugh at things I missed the first time I watched them.  Some of my co-workers are taking a sojourn to the motorspeedway this afternoon.  Hopefully, it won’t rain.  And, I’m getting my hair done after work tonight.  My hairdresser Amy is just the best.  It’s great seeing all her kids, she has her shop in her basement.  It is so fun catching up with all of them.  Sometimes her cat Wheezy will sit in my lap as I’m in the chair, you don’t get that at your average salon.  I also love getting my hair back to “what Mother Nature intended for it to be” as my Mom’s likes to say.  That is all I really know for today.  Maybe tomorrow I’ll have pictures of race cars for you.

No this isn’t a tribute post to one of the most famous Idol contestants ever, the famous William Hung.

William Hung

While researching for this post I did find out however that William or Will as he is sometimes known, has a website, 3 cds, and a photo gallery.  Not bad for 5 minutes of airtime 3 seasons ago.  Take that Jennifer Hudson.  Anyways, ADD kicked in there for a minute, I was noticing the other day when I was posting my Lily Allen photo her bangs.  Bangs seem to be very “in” right now.  Please take visual note of this phenomena.

REese at the Oscars

if it’s good enough for Reese, it’s good enough for me.  Thanks to my fabulous hair dresser Amy (Hey Amy!) I recently added bangs to my hairstyle.  I was a little bored with the way it looked and I have to say I am enjoying my bangs so far.  We see how long the trend lasts and how much I hate them when the time comes for them to grow out (Hello headbands), but for now she bangs, she bangs it is.

A couple of updates, I slept much better again last night.  The combo of yoga and Idol seem to be working for me.  Unfortch, the insomnia bug bit my darling Carl, sorry honey.  I have pictures of the Moderne Baby Blanket, they are on the camera, so hopefully tommorow visual evidence of actual knitting progress.

And most important of all, today is my friend Cara’s birthday.  She has been through so much this year, I know the year to come is going to be filled with happiness and good health!  Happy Birthday Care Bear!!!!
