I’m A Little Worried

I am growing worried that my mental state is becoming directly tied to the amount of sleep I’ve received the night previous.  Last night I had another fantastic night of sleep and today I feel great again.  It could also have something to do with the fact that today is Friday/Payday.  And The Office was highlarious last night!

I’ve recently become obsessed.  I’m obsessed with a cat named Winston.  I first saw him on Cute Overload.  He has all kinds of You Tube videos.  His person’s blog is fourfour.  I’m not quite sure why I’m so obsessed with him, but I even dreamt I was cat sitting him last night!  It’s not like I don’t have two beautiful boys of my own to keep me happy.  Something about the way Winston looks just fascinates me.  I love the video of him taking a bath!  If you get bored, check Winston out, he’s totally awesome.

You’ll probably notice a glaring lack of knitting content on this blog lately.  I’ve been trying, I really have.  I’ve been knitting every night on Darling Husband Carl’s second sock, it just doesn’t seem to be growing very fast.  I will be knitting a lot this weekend and promise to have progress and photos for you next week!

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!

The Never Ending Week

As far as long weeks go, this has got to be one for the record books.  Even Wendy commented about it on her blog, so maybe it’s not just me.  Last night my parent’s came over for a visit and to spend the night.  I love to have them over, but the boys always get really, really stressed when there are other people in the house.  They are used to me and Darling Husband Carl, but get freaked out by anyone else.  That is makes it sort of stressful for me.  I try to strike a balance to entertain my guests, while keeping an eye on the cats.  Watching Dancing with the Semi-Famous on the high def tv was an experience.  You should never be able to see Dolly Parton that clearly!  We weren’t at all surprised that Josie the supermodel got sent home.  I was a little surprised that Mark Cuban was the guy with the lowest votes.  I thought there were a couple of guys that were worse than he was.

I was chatting with my Mom this morning after breakfast and she was talking about having to wait 2 1/2 hours for my Dad’s eye appointment yesterday.  I commented to her that I would LOVE to have 2 1/2 hours just to sit and knit, sounds like heaven to me.  So maybe that is what I’m going to aim for this weekend.  Some time to just sit quietly and knit.  I don’t know how our modern lives with all of our electronic aids and “time savers” become so overfilled that we don’t have time to relax and enjoy life anymore.  What usually happens during my weekend knitting time is that I fall asleep and take a long nap, not a bad alternative.  With my sleep issues lately, I probably need it.

If you are like me, you know that today is a special day.  The season premier of “The Office” is on tonight at 9.  I’ll leave you for today with this:

I don’t know what happened to me yesterday.  As soon as I typed out how bad things were, the black cloud seemed to lift.  I think I can only be down for so long and then my natural state of happiness just says “Excuse me, I’m taking back over now.”  SO glad it’s back.  I actually did some knitting on Darling Husband Carl’s sock, it’s starting to come along.  I had a really good yoga class last night.  Helio danced like Fred Astaire on Dancing with the Semi-Famous.  He is, by far, the best of the guys.  Thanks to help from Melissa at Banana Migraine, I understand how to get photos into my Ravelry account now, and I even slept last night!  I know that stress is a big component in my insomnia problems and I have not been sleeping well at all lately.  Last night I went to bed before 10 and didn’t wake up until 5:32!  That is major!  I NEVER sleep straight through!  I couldn’t even believe it when I woke up this morning.  I felt like doing a cheer!  I’m having lunch with my BFF Georgianne today and my folks will be at my house when I get home for a little visit tonight.  I hope everyone reading is having a great day as well.

So late last week I posted about how I was going to stop buying yarn.  Here I am posting about new yarn.  Huh?  Well, it is my Zen String sock club yarn for September.  I had already enrolled in Zen String and Yarn Pirate sock yarn clubs for the next few months. The color is called Reflection and it is really beautiful.  It is Serendipity fingering weight.

Not exactly the first thing that I think of when I think of September, but I really like it all the same.
I finally got my invite to join Ravelry this past weekend, I’m sacamax if anyone cares. Best that I can figure out, Ravelry is like MySpace for Knitters and Crafters. I haven’t done anything with it yet, because I can’t figure out how to get my photos from Flickr into Ravelry. Any tips would be appreciated. I also had a little MacBook issue when I tried to upload the yarn photo to Flickr. I will have to investigate that a little further, I could even do that with my old squaky laptop.
I’ve decided that I do really like “The Reminder” by Feist. It is one of those things you need to listen to a few times and then it grows on you.
So I told everyone to watch Dancing with the Semi-Famous, and Helio didn’t even dance last night. He will be dancing tonight tho. Out of last night’s ladies, I liked Mel B. aka Scary Spice, something about her, she’s sassy. D liked Jane Seymour, he thought she was classy. Tonight the guys dance, poor Cheryl Burke, she’s paired with Wayne Newton.
If my posts have been really blah lately, I apologize. Normally I don’t talk at all about my work, it’s just not that interesting. But the past week has been extremely stressful and I’m afraid it’s taking it’s toll on my inspiration. Rest assured, I’m trying hard to find my happy place and soon my blogs will be filled with silliness and mirth once again. I keep thinking about the words of the great Bob Marley “Don’t worry about a thing, cause every little thing’s gonna be alright”.

Vote for Helio

Hanging with Helio“>
Today is the beginning of a very important week.  The new television season starts tonight with the premiere of Dancing with the Stars, or as I like to call it, Dancing with the Semi-Famous.  I’m not really sure who all is on the show this season, but it doesn’t really matter, I’m voting for my favorite Helio Castroneves.  He’s paired with Julianne Huff who won last season with Apolo Anton Ohno.  I think he’s got to be a top contender, but I want to encourage all my readers to vote for him anyways, every vote helps.  It is also the premiere of The Office and Earl this Thursday.  I should get lots of knitting done what with all the time I’ll be spending in front of the tv this week.  I did not get a lot of knitting done this weekend.  Darling Husband Carl wasn’t feeling well, so it was a very quiet weekend for us.  I finished two of Ken’s dishcloths.  That was really all I could handle working on, maybe this week I’ll be able to finish the second Bamboo Banga sock.

Current Stash Appreciation

I agree with Troy, I too hate the word diet for anything. So I will think of the next few months as stash appreciation season. Where I appreciate the stash that I currently have and try not to add any more to it. Here is a little view of my overflow bag of sock yarn.

Isn’t is just beautiful? It’s like a bag stuffed with candy. I just need to look at it more often. Speaking of yarn, I realized that I’ve been so crazy with computer stuff this week that I didn’t even show you my last yarn buying hurrah if you will. So without further ado, here is the Wollmeise, the color is Rittersporn. WollmeiseRittersporn“>
It is hard to photograph this yarn, the colors are sooo intense! You might remember that I was trying to get something Colt’s blue. This yarn has some purple in it, but it is for the most part, very, very blue. I got Yarn Nerd in the colorway Ting!

This is a very muted, masculine, yarn. I really like it, it’s not so girly as everything else I’ve been buying lately. Speaking of girly, my new Zen String is just that.

It’s called Tramanto, and it is so me I can’t stand it. It is her Bambewe yarn which is a bamboo blend. It is shiny and so yummy! I also got my Yarn Pirate Booty Club yarn for September. (ADD Moment: Where has September disappeared to? This month has flown by.) It is called Butternut, and I love it!

This yarn alone is enough to keep me busy till the holidays, not to mention all the other projects I’ve got going on.

I had a disheartening bit of news at spinning class last night.  I’ve been spinning, and spinning, and spinning and when I got some of it plied last night, my instructor Kate told me I have about 36 yards.  That is not even close to the yardage I’m going to need for the project that I had in mind.  This is what is soooo frustrating to me about spinning.  You spend all this time and do all this work and then you don’t even have enough yarn at the end to do anything with.  Sigh.  I’m not giving up, I’ll just have to reformulate my grand plans.

Today is our annual “Golden Lunch”.  To celebrate the coming of fall we go to Boston Market and order only golden colored foods.  Nothing green today.  Yes, we are a bunch of weird dorks.

I hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing, fun weekend.

Today is another one of those days when I have a lot of super random things I want to talk about.

First is a yarn diet.  My Yarn Pirate Booty Club Yarn came last night.  Darling Husband Carl was questioning me about it.  It is lovely by the way, as soon as I take photos, I’ll share.  But I was thinking that maybe he has a point.  Maybe it’s time for me to take a yarn buying sabbatical.  I know I have enough sock yarn that I could knit from now until spring (maybe longer) and not run out.  And with the holidays coming perhaps my money would be better spent elsewhere.  So I’m going to not buy any yarn except for my two sock yarn clubs I already belong to between now and the new year.  I’m going to try very hard to stick to this.  I’ll be honest and let you know if I slip between now and then, but I think if I get the urge to buy any new yarn one peek at my stash should take care of that.

Another thing is time.  I have my weird time obsession and lately it seems that I don’t have any time.  Tuesday night was a late night and last night was busy working on the new computer (more on that later) so the time slipped away.  Tonight is my spinning lesson and tomorrow night I have a work meeting from 6:30-9:00 (ADD moment, who has a work meeting till 9 p.m. on Friday night???).  So what is they say, “no rest for the wicked”?  Maybe the weekend will allow me a little time to gather myself.  I tend not to be 100% if I don’t feel rested and centered.  I am going to tell them that I have to leave the work meeting by 8 p.m.  I have to teach yoga at 8 a.m. the next morning, I’m sure they would want me to be at my best for my class.

Speaking of yoga, reading Shattering_Samskarashas made me realize that I very rarely blog about yoga or my teaching.  I don’t really know why that is.  I love doing yoga and I love teaching.  It is always teaching me life lessons.  I think that this past week’s class was a lesson in patience.  I had two new students both who arrived late for my class.  The first one was just a few minutes late.  She seemed to be having trouble doing even the warm up poses.  I try very hard to make my classes accessible to all of my students.  It would be a disservice to my other students to try to make my classes any more gentle than they already are.  The other new student arrived a full 25 minutes into the class.  She was banging on the door to get in (must not have seen the other door that was open).  I did tell her that we were quite aways into class, but that didn’t seem to phase her in the least.  She spent the entire relaxation period towards the end of class making loud disruptive noises.  Again, it wasn’t the most challenging part of the class, so I don’t know why she was having so much of an issue.  These students are my teachers, teaching me how to be patient, forgiving, to remember that the students that come to my class every week deserve my attention and my best teaching skills regardless of the distractions around us.  They may not ever be back to class, that is the nature of teaching yoga, students come and go.  So that is what has been going on in my yoga world.

My new MacBook is still a work in progress.  I got most of my iTunes to transfer in.  I am having to work some CD’s back in and recreate all of my playlists.  This is very time consuming.  That is what I spent all of last night doing.  And I have to recreate all of my address book and calendar.  So far my MacBook and my iPhone aren’t really friends yet.

I’ve started the second Bamboo Banga sock, but I messed up already.  I forgot the toe needed to be 36 sts on each needle, I tried to start the pattern with 32.  Not surprisingly, it didn’t work.  So I need to rip out and finish the toe properly.

So what randomness do you have going on in your lives?  Happy thought, it’s almost fall, even tho it’s supposed to be 90 degrees this weekend.
