Something To Think About

I have to be serious for just a moment.  While reading in The New York Times about the horrible tragedy at Virginia Tech, I glanced down and saw a much smaller headline.  157 killed in Baghdad by 4 bomb blasts.  This is Iraq’s everyday reality.  Are their lives less innocent or precious than the bright young students that were shot down?  What in the world have we done?  Imagine if we had to live in a country where 32 innocent people being murdered was the everyday headline?  It really is something to think about.

OMG! Joel said the same thing this morning when I was getting ready for work. I like how my people are all so smart.

“I believe all suffering is caused by ignorance. People inflict pain on others in the selfish pursuit of their happiness or satisfaction. Yet true happiness comes from a sense of peace and contentment, which in turn must be achieved through the cultivation of altruism, of love and compassion, and elimination of ignorance, selfishness, and greed.”
