Friday is my favorite day of the week. The weekend is on the horizon, full of possibilities. Every other Friday is payday, which is never a bad thing, and the last Friday of the month is casual day in my office. It’s always fun to see everyone already in their weekend gear. Today is the special Friday that is Payday Friday and Casual Friday. A great Friday song is “Friday, I’m In Love” by The Cure. If you’ve never heard it before, check it out. My darling husband Carl’s favorite day of the week is Saturday. He hates to have anything “to do” on Saturday’s, he likes to let them unfold naturally. Do you have a favorite day of the week? Let me know via the comments, (yes this is a not so sutble beg for comments).
So I have been busy on the sock, it really needs a name. I am now midway down the foot, headed for the toe. Here is a progress photo for you.
Hopefully I will finish it today. David’s Anarchist Man Bag made it’s office debut today. And yes, his top is Yohji Yamaoto. Stylin’
SIP stands for Sock In Progress. I’ve finally decided on a sock pattern from my new sock book, “Sensational Knitted Socks” by Charlene Schurch. I’m making a baby cabled rib knit in leftover Regia Silk from Cara’s Christmas Hat. It is very soft and I bought way too much for her hat, I ended up with 2 balls left, plenty to make some socks. Here is a photo of my new SIP.
This is the first time in about a year that I’m knitting a sock from the cuff down. I really like the toe up method, you don’t have to worry about getting the toes grafted shut. It can be a bit tricky for me, my grafting skills are questionable. I also received my Elmore Pigsah Peaches and Creme yarn yesterday.
Sorry ’bout the blurry picture, that is what you get when you take blog photos before the second cup of coffee in the morning. I think I will be stocked up for dishcloths, baby bibs, and burp cloths for awhile. This is the Mason Dixon pre-pack. I like the colors, mostly. I think this cotton yarn is much higher quality than the Sugar and Cream I can get locally, so it was worth the effort to order it. Besides, who doesn’t like to come home and have packages to open?
After a few listens, I’ve decided I do like the Amy Winehouse CD. It is very dark, but I find myself listening to it over and over. All of the music I’ve been listening to lately has me thinking. Beware if you are dating a British singer, when you break up, you’re going to get roasted via song.

Bonus points to you if you know what it is. Irrational fear of frogs and people let me tell you, I have it with abundance. I’m not really easily frightened. Spiders, I’m okay with; mice, cute in the right settings, but reptiles and frogs in particular, scare the daylights out of me. I know why this is, when I was a small child some other mean children chased me with frogs. So when I went to my Yahoo home page and ran smack into this:
well you can imagine. This is the biggest cane toad every discovered. He weighs two pounds and is the size of a football. Oh and he’s toxic, they were rounding them up to keep them from killing other animals. Any wonder why they are on my list of “so not favorite things”? He was found in Darwin, Australia, remind me to not go to Australia anytime soon. I did have another thought,
that’s a mean pair of frog’s legs.
Let me offically state for the record, I love spring! I’m SOOOOO happy it’s here. Love that I don’t have to get bundled up in a coat, scarf, hat combo to go anywhere. Very, very, happy! There is one little problem that comes along with the trees and plants blooming…allergies. I never used to have allergies, but they seem to be worsening as I get older. Sunday we had all the windows open in the house, it was wonderful, but yesterday I really paid the price. Today, I’m heavily medicated. So I’m not sneezing literally every 30 seconds like yesterday, but I do feel a little bit hazy. So if I ramble more than usual, medicine haze is my excuse.
Before I passed out last night I opened my package from the Loopy Ewe. All my beautiful sock yarn arrived and I was able to take a few pictures.
Of course my new yarn assistant Simon had to give it his sniff of approval.
Right after this photo was taken, he tried to make off with a skein of the Sherbert Claudia Hand Painted. He’s a sneaky one that Simon. So my sock yarn stash is growing. I thought for some reason that the Opal Tiger yarn would be blue instead of black, which is really goofy on my part, who has ever seen a tiger with blue stripes?
My insomnia that is. I woke up at 3:30 this morning and wasn’t able to go back to sleep. I think last night might have been my “normal” Sunday night/Monday morning anxiety. I hope so anyways. The boys seem to love my insomnia, they get extra attention. They also get to sleep pretty much all day long. Me not so much. Simon got to take a little journey onto the deck yesterday. My pictures were pretty bad, only one came out not blurry and his leash is in his face, but here it is anyways. He seemed to enjoy his little adventure outside. I hope that doesn’t want to make him want to escape even more.

Here is last week’s dishcloth. It is a Mason Dixon ball band dishcloth knit in Sugar and Cream cotton. I made it for David’s darling Ken, who I know will use it and enjoy it. I spent most of my weekend knitting on the Baby Moderne. I’m onto block number 7, here is the progress so far.

It is completely enjoyable to knit, but I find my concentration wandering onto the next project. I think there are only 10 blocks total, so I should be able to finish before I completely lose interest in it.
News and Notes
A big “Welcome Back” to my friend Cara, who returns to work part time today. We are SO glad she’s back!!!!!!
I am the only person in my office who chose the correct four teams for the final four in the NCAA tournament. Go Florida!
I downloaded a new CD this morning. It is by Amy Winehouse and it’s called “Back to Black”. I had been hearing a lot about Amy Winehouse lately, so last night I gave some of her songs a listen. It is very different than what I’ve been listening to lately, very soul torch singer. It sounds like it could be from the Sixties. I wasn’t bowled over last night, but after mulling it over in my non sleeping hours, I decided to go ahead and give it a try. I think I like it, I’ll have to give you a absolute verdict at a later date.

Today is my good friend Mike’s birthday. He is my racing guru and also a member of my mantourage. Unfortch, he is spending his birthday traveling. Hope you have safe travels and a great birthday!
So I hope that none of you spent last night awake wondering if the MINI service department left MP outside last night like I did. Turns out that it wouldn’t have mattered if they did, she was all finished with her repairs. My service guy Rob called me first thing this morning and told me the repairman worked late last night getting her all checked out and put back together again. Whoosh, I’m glad she’s all better. Now I just have to figure out when to go to pick her up. In all of my joy and excitement of having MP fixed and under warranty, I went on a little yarn shopping spree. I bought some Elmore Pigsah Peaches and Creme http://www.elmore-pisgah.com . I had to order it online because the local devil store (aka Walmart) doesn’t carry it. You know I REALLY want some of this yarn if I made a trip to the devil to see about it. I also bought sock yarn from the Loopy Ewe http://www.theloopyewe.com . I got two different colorways of Claudia Handpainted Yarn and one skein of Opal. The colorways of the Claudia Handpainted are sherbert and leopard. The Opal is from their Rainforest Collection and the colorway is Tiger. When it all comes in, I’ll post pictures for you. I also finished a ballband dish towel. Pictures to come. Have an awesome weekend.

Before any panic breaks out, let me reassure you, she is going to be okay. If you don’t know, MINI Pearl is my beloved MINI Cooper. Monday night after work, David and I decided to have a sojourn to JoAnn Fabrics. When I opened the door to MP, I noticed she had a serious flood in the passenger floorboard. We are talking a couple of inches of standing water. I was shocked and dismayed. I tried to rationalize that maybe somehow the door had been left ajar, but the water was only in the floorboard. So I got all of the water vaccumed out and hoped for the best. Well after this morning’s rainshowers, I went back out to check on her and sure enough more water in the same spot. So I called Rob, my MINI service guy, and took her in right away before it started raining again. He is a very nice service guy, he told me that he thinks it has something to do with the sunroof drain and they will get her all fixed up no problem. They will have to keep her for a day or so, I have a bright blue loaner MINI. It’s cute and all, but it’s no MINI Pearl. I miss her already! I’ll keep you updated on her condition.
